The Tygerberg APD team is dedicated to serving people with physical disabilities from all walks of life. Our social services are available to anyone between 0 and 60 years of age.
Our services extend to the Northern suburbs of Cape Town as well as parts of the Cape Flats.
We focus on providing developmental social work services through incorporating person centred assessment, care management, and community-based services.
We aim to empower people with physical disabilities to plan their own future and organise the support they need.
Peer - parent support
Offering support to those who are interested in learning how to support people with disabilities. There are centres aiding this in Elsies River, Delft, Bloekombos, Mfuleni, Parow, Eerste River and Wallacedene.
The Independent Living Life Skills Programme
Providing school-leavers with the sufficient skills needed to cope with responsibilities and life after school when living with disabilities.
Miracles Protective Workshop
Offering sheltered employment to those with disabilities, the majority of whom cannot work in the general labour market but who will be empowered by feeling of being part of the economy by earning a wage.
Fun walks, high teas and casual days are amongst the fundraising events we run as well as offering the community the ability to raise funds by hosting their own special events, creative fundraisers or office donations.
